About Sumeet

Sumeet Kaul earned his law degree from the University of Florida in 1991 after completing a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Michigan in 1988. He took to courtrooms and offices early in his career, pairing academic training with practical work across several legal settings.

Kaul began public-service work as an Assistant State Lawyer in the Twelfth Judicial Circuit in 1993. The position gave him trial experience and exposure to courtroom procedure. He worked on a range of matters that demanded quick judgment and an ability to handle evidence and witness testimony under pressure.

In 1996 he moved into in-house practice as counsel for Allstate Insurance Company. That role shifted his day-to-day work toward claims handling, regulatory questions and the defense side of insurance disputes. He spent time negotiating settlement matters and advising on coverage issues, and the in-house perspective shaped his view of litigation from a carrier’s side.

A year later, in 1997, Kaul joined Morgan & Morgan as Managing Partner. The move brought him back into a larger law-firm environment. As a managing partner he has balanced casework with firm administration and supervision of other attorneys. His responsibilities have included oversight of litigation strategy and mentoring junior lawyers while keeping an active docket.

Kaul is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. He is also a member of The Florida Justice Association. Those affiliations reflect ongoing engagement with the federal bar and a statewide professional association that addresses trial practice, court procedures and legislative matters affecting litigation.

Across public service, in-house counsel work and law firm leadership, Kaul has built a career that moves between courtroom practice and client counseling. He is based at Morgan & Morgan, where his background in government work and insurance law informs the cases he handles and the advice he gives clients. His current practice centers on civil litigation and insurance matters.
