About Stryder J.
Stryder J. Wegener earned his J.D. from Seattle University School of Law in 2001. He built his legal foundation in the years after law school, taking on roles that combined client work and public service. He is licensed to practice in Washington and has worked in both nonprofit and private settings.
Early in his career, Wegener worked as a lawyer for the YWCA of Pierce County in 2004. That position placed him in direct contact with clients who needed practical legal help and introduced him to courtroom work and community-based advocacy. Six years later he founded his own practice. In 2010 he became the owner and managing lawyer of Emerald City Law Group, a firm he has led since then.
As managing lawyer, Wegener oversees day-to-day operations and handles an array of matters in state and federal courts. He holds memberships in several professional organizations, including the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Washington State Association for Justice. He is also a member of the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington and participates in multiple county bar associations across King, Snohomish and Pierce counties.
Those memberships align with the kinds of cases his office often sees. Clients come to his firm for criminal defense matters and for contested civil matters. Wegener’s work spans hearings, motions practice and trials. He files and defends cases in state court and appears in the Western District of Washington when federal jurisdiction is involved.
Colleagues describe him as a practitioner who combines courtroom experience with the administrative demands of running a small firm. He manages case flow, supervises staff and handles client intake, while continuing to represent individuals in contested proceedings. His path from a nonprofit legal role to leading a law office shows an interest in both client service and law practice management.
Wegener continues to maintain memberships in local and state bar organizations and remains connected to the legal community in the Puget Sound region. He practices from Emerald City Law Group Inc. and handles criminal and civil litigation matters in Washington state and in federal court.
