About Steven T.
Steven T. Rodemer trained first in the sciences. He earned a B.A. in biochemistry and molecular biology from Cornell College before turning to law and completing a J.D. at California Western School of Law. The combination of a science background and legal training informs how he approaches complex evidence and expert testimony.
His legal career began in the mid-2000s as a legal intern at the San Diego County District Lawyer’s Office in 2004. He moved into a prosecutor’s role two years later, serving as a deputy at the Fourth Judicial District Lawyer’s Office in 2006. Those early years gave him courtroom experience and an inside view of how criminal cases are handled from the state’s side.
In 2009 he entered private practice as a partner at McDowell, Laybourne & Rodemer, LLC. That period expanded his trial work and client counseling responsibilities. Four years after that he established his own firm, Law Office of Steven Rodemer, LLC, taking on cases under his own banner beginning in 2013.
Over the years Rodemer has built a practice largely centered on criminal defense. His memberships — including the National College for DUI Defense and several criminal defense organizations at the national and state level — reflect the kinds of matters he handles. He routinely represents clients facing DUI charges and other criminal allegations, preparing cases for trial when necessary and handling plea negotiations when appropriate.
Colleagues describe his courtroom style as direct. He presses for clarity in forensic and scientific testimony, a tendency likely tied to his undergraduate training. He has worked through the stages of prosecution and defense, and that dual perspective shapes how he evaluates evidence and strategy. Trial work remains a regular part of his practice, though he also counsels clients at earlier stages to try to resolve cases outside the courtroom when a fair outcome is available.
Rodemer is active in professional circles tied to trial advocacy and criminal defense. He holds memberships in the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar Association. Those affiliations provide access to continuing education and peer resources that inform how he practices.
He maintains an active solo practice out of the Law Office of Steven Rodemer, LLC, representing clients in Colorado on criminal and DUI matters.
