About Michael
Michael Young studied philosophy before turning to law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of New Orleans in 2012 and completed his Juris Doctor at the University of Colorado Boulder in 2022. While at Colorado Law he also earned an American Indian Law Certificate, a credential that shaped part of his clinical work and public-law training.
Young’s law-school years were heavy on hands-on experience. He worked as a student practitioner at the American Indian Law Clinic in 2020, where he handled research and client contacts under supervision. He also spent multiple semesters in local courts and prosecutor offices. In 2020 he interned with the 4th Judicial District Lawyers Office. In 2021 he served as a judicial intern for the 20th Judicial District Court and held extern and intern roles with the 4th and 8th Judicial Districts. Those placements offered courtroom exposure and rounds of legal writing, motion practice and case preparation.
After law school, Young moved into a public-law role. In 2022 he worked as a Deputy District Lawyer II at the 4th Judicial District Lawyers Office. There he managed a docket, appeared in court and handled a mix of misdemeanor and felony matters over the course of the year. The position gave him sustained trial and hearing experience, as well as practice in negotiating plea agreements and preparing evidence for hearing.
In the years since, Young shifted to private practice. He is now at The Lux Law Office PLLC, based in Colorado. The move brought private-client work and continued courtroom practice. His background in regional prosecutor’s offices and the American Indian Law Clinic informs how he approaches cases and client intake. Colleagues describe him as methodical in trial preparation and steady under pressure.
Outside the courthouse, Young maintains professional memberships. He has stayed connected to Colorado’s legal community through the local judicial and prosecutorial networks that shaped his early career. He draws on that network and his clinic experience when evaluating legal strategy for clients. His practice covers litigation and advisory work for clients in Colorado.
