About Steven R Broadwater

Steven R Broadwater Jr. earned his B.A. in political science from Bethany College in 2007 and went on to receive his J.D. from West Virginia University College of Law in 2010. Those years framed his interest in how state and federal systems interact and set the stage for a career centered on courtroom work. He moved from the classroom into practice at a time when the region was handling a steady stream of complex civil and appellate disputes.

He is admitted to practice in West Virginia and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. That combination of state and federal credentials allows him to work on matters at different procedural levels. Colleagues describe him as steady in court and methodical in preparation. Clients see an attorney who explains options plainly and outlines the next steps without legalese.

Broadwater joined Hamilton, Burgess, Young & Pollard, PLLC where he has handled a mix of litigation tasks. His work includes drafting briefs, arguing motions, and participating in hearings. He has taken cases through trial preparation and appellate briefing, and he often collaborates with colleagues when cases cross jurisdictions. Inside the firm he is known for careful case management and for keeping clients informed as matters move forward.

Outside the office he stays engaged with the legal community. He is a current member of professional organizations that serve practitioners across the state. That involvement keeps him current on procedural developments and emerging appellate decisions.

Across two decades of study and practice, Broadwater has maintained a steady presence in West Virginia courts and in the Fourth Circuit. He balances courtroom work with the demands of written advocacy, and he handles the procedural complexity that often accompanies appeals. He currently practices at Hamilton, Burgess, Young & Pollard, PLLC, representing clients in West Virginia state courts and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
