About Steven K.

Steven K. Brown graduated from Boston College Law School with a J.D. before beginning a career that has crossed public service and private practice. He entered the field at the Legal Aid Society of Eastern Missouri in 1970, where he worked as a staff lawyer. Those early years in legal aid shaped his approach to client work. He spent time in direct client advocacy and learned to manage cases with limited resources.

By 1974 he moved into private practice as an associate at Liberman, Baron, Goldstein & Freund. Two years later he joined a general practice partnership, Goldstein, Tessler, Brown & Geigerman, becoming a partner in 1977. That period broadened his exposure to a range of civil matters and introduced him to firm management. In 1981 he established his own office as principal attorney under the name Law Office of Steve Brown.

His path returned to partnership in 1985 when he joined Rosenthal, Brown & Geigerman. He spent the next decade balancing firm responsibilities and client work. In 1996 he set out again as a solo practitioner and opened the Law Offices of Steven K. Brown. The move restored a personal control over case selection and office operations. It also allowed him to maintain continuity with long-term clients while taking on new matters.

Across those roles, Brown’s résumé shows steady movement between public interest work and private practice. He has carried cases in contexts that required courtroom presence, negotiation and client counseling. That mix reflects years spent handling disputes, transactional questions and day-to-day legal needs. His practice history illustrates familiarity with both the institutional pressures of a firm and the hands-on demands of a solo practice.

Brown is admitted to practice in Missouri and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. He keeps offices at the Law Offices of Steven K. Brown and at the Pierre Laclede Center – Tower Two, the latter available by appointment only. He continues to operate his solo practice and handles legal matters in Missouri and before the Eighth Circuit.
