About Steven

Steven Gebelin trained first as an engineer and then turned to the law. He earned a B.S. in environmental engineering from the University of California, Riverside in 2005, and went on to complete his J.D. at New York Law School in 2008. That blend of technical and legal training informs much of his work as an attorney.

He began his legal career in 2008 at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP. That early stint placed him in a high-volume litigation environment. He moved into associate roles at Miller Barondess LLP in 2011 and then to Raines Feldman LLP in 2014 as a senior associate. Each move broadened his courtroom and administrative experience and exposed him to appellate and agency practice.

In 2017 he became a partner at Lesowitz Gebelin LLP. The partnership represents a shift from large firm practice to a smaller firm setting where he handles case strategy and client counseling. Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing filings and deliberate in planning appeals and administrative matters.

Gebelin is admitted to practice before the Ninth Circuit and the D.C. Circuit, and he is also authorized to appear before the International Trade Commission. He is licensed in California. Those credentials reflect a practice that reaches both federal appellate courts and specialized trade forums. He has worked on matters that require coordination between district courts, appellate courts and administrative agencies.

His background in environmental engineering gives him familiarity with technical subject matter. That training proves useful when cases involve technical evidence, regulatory records or complex factual records. In the courtroom and at agency hearings he is known for careful preparation of evidentiary materials and for crafting arguments that tie technical details to legal standards.

Outside the courtroom he maintains memberships in professional organizations related to the practice of law. He has contributed to litigation teams handling appeal briefs, agency submissions and complex civil litigation matters. His work often involves drafting appeals and administrative pleadings and managing discovery in technically nuanced cases.

Today he is a partner at Lesowitz Gebelin LLP. He continues to represent clients in federal appellate courts and administrative proceedings and focuses his practice on litigation and administrative advocacy that involves technical and regulatory issues.
