About Hillary
Hillary Johns earned her bachelor’s degree from Occidental College in 1990 and received her J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law in 1993. Her legal education took place on both coasts, and she entered the profession in the years that followed.
She is admitted to practice in New York, the District of Columbia, Montana and California. Those admissions reflect a practice that crosses regional lines and requires familiarity with multiple state procedures and federal rules.
In 2019 she established her own practice, operating under the name Hillary Johns, Trial Lawyer. As owner, she handles litigation and conducts trials on behalf of clients. She has worked in courtroom settings and at various stages of litigation, from pretrial motions to jury selection and verdicts.
Her professional memberships are wide-ranging. She is a member of the New York County Bar Association and the New York County Lawyers Association, the latter since 2021. She joined the Montana State Bar Association in 2020 and the District of Columbia Bar Association in 2019. Locally she holds memberships in the Beverly Hills Bar Association and the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce, the former dating to 2018 and the latter to 2019. She is also a member of the Cascade County Lawyers Association since 2021. These affiliations reflect both metropolitan and more rural legal communities.
Colleagues describe her approach as straightforward. She prepares cases for trial and argues them in court. Her practice requires managing discovery, briefing dispositive motions and presenting evidence to juries and judges. She balances file preparation with courtroom time, aiming to move matters toward resolution while preserving clients’ trial rights.
Her career path shows a combination of private practice and bar involvement across several jurisdictions. That mix of admissions and memberships means she is familiar with the procedural environments of New York, Washington, D.C., California and Montana. She continues to maintain active ties to bar groups that serve both large-city and regional legal needs.
She now concentrates her practice on trial work through her firm, Hillary Johns, Trial Lawyer.
