About Steven G.
Steven G. Casanova has built a steady legal career in Florida courts and federal districts. He earned a B.A. in Political Science and Legal Studies from the University of Central Florida in 1994 and received his J.D. from Washburn University School of Law in 1997. Those years shaped his early interest in criminal law and evidence issues, particularly those that arise in DUI prosecutions.
He began practicing soon after law school and struck out on his own in 1999. For more than two decades he has operated under the name Steven G. Casanova P.A., handling trial work and courtroom matters as a sole practitioner. He is admitted to practice in Florida, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
Casanova’s work includes criminal defense, where courtroom procedure and technical evidence often determine outcomes. He holds certifications tied to breath testing technology; he is a certified breath test maintenance technician and an Intoxilyzer 5000 operator trained by CMI, Inc. Those credentials inform his handling of DUI cases that involve breath test evidence and machine reliability.
His practice record is informed by hands-on litigation. He prepares and tries cases at the county level, and he appears in federal and appellate courts when matters require it. He represents clients at arraignments, pretrial hearings and jury trials. He also handles the forensic questions that arise in traffic and alcohol-impaired driving prosecutions.
Casanova maintains active ties to professional organizations that reflect the areas he practices in. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Brevard County Bar Association and is a director of the Brevard County Bar Foundation. He holds lifetime memberships in the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National College for DUI Defense. He also belongs to the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the Florida Bar Association.
He manages his practice from Steven G. Casanova P.A., where a compact office structure allows him to take personal responsibility for case strategy and courtroom presentations. The office roster is modest, and Casanova often handles filings and hearings himself. He continues to accept criminal defense and DUI matters and represents clients in county, federal and appellate forums. His current practice handles criminal defense, DUI and related matters.
