About Steven Fisher
Steven Fisher Fairlie built a steady legal path that began in the classroom and moved quickly into courtrooms. He graduated from Lafayette College in 1987, where he studied government and law and English. He earned his law degree from Dickinson School of Law in 1993. Those years set the stage for practical work in criminal law and public service.
Fairlie entered government work soon after law school. In 1996 he served as an Assistant District Lawyer in Montgomery County, assigned to the Major Crimes and Narcotics units. He handled serious felony matters and worked alongside prosecutors on complex investigations. That period gave him firsthand experience in trial preparation, evidence handling and courtroom procedure.
He moved into private practice at the turn of the century. In 2000 he became a partner at Rubin, Glickman, Steinberg & Gifford, P.C. He remained in practice and later took on a leadership role at Fairlie & Lippy, P.C., becoming managing partner in 2009. The shift from a prosecutorial role to defense and civil work broadened his perspective. He has handled cases on both sides of the aisle and has experience in litigation strategy and client counseling.
Fairlie retains active ties to the legal community. He is a member of the Pennsylvania State Bar and has long participated in the Montgomery Bar Association. Since 2001 he has chaired the Montgomery Bar Association’s Criminal Defense Committee, a role that has him involved in local defense issues and committee work. He was also a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and served on its Hotline Panel of Experts from 2000 to 2009. His professional affiliations reflect sustained involvement in criminal defense circles and bar governance.
He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and is also admitted to the bar of the U.S. Supreme Court. Those admissions add a broader procedural dimension to his work when federal filings or appellate matters arise. Colleagues describe him as practical in court and deliberate in preparing cases. Clients have turned to him for matters originating in major-crimes units, narcotics prosecutions and related criminal litigation.
Over more than two decades he has combined trial experience, bar leadership and private practice management. He became managing partner in 2009 and continues to apply that background to his cases. He currently focuses on criminal defense and related litigation in Pennsylvania.
