About Stephen R. Turel

Stephen R. Turel Jr. built his academic foundation in finance before completing law school. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Marywood University in 2003. He then went on to the Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, receiving his J.D. in 2007. He returned to Marywood for graduate study and completed an M.B.A. in Finance in 2008.

That sequence — business undergraduate, law degree, then a graduate business degree — shaped how he approaches legal work. His training in both law and finance allows him to read complex financial documents and understand business structures. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and is also authorized to appear before the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

Turel’s educational choices suggest an interest in the overlap between commercial and legal issues. After law school and graduate study, he entered private practice. He has handled matters that require interpreting financial agreements, assessing business risk, and addressing procedural questions in state and federal court. His dual background often comes into play when cases involve accounting, banking, or corporate decision-making.

Colleagues describe him as methodical. He tends to break large problems into smaller parts and to prioritize careful document review. In court, he focuses on clear presentation of facts and law. Outside the courtroom he spends time reviewing financial records and consulting with accountants or business advisers when the matter calls for it.

Clients and other lawyers find his combination of business education and legal training useful when disputes have a financial or operational dimension. He is comfortable handling procedural work in the Middle District of Pennsylvania as well as appearing in state tribunals. He has continued to update his knowledge of financial regulations and business practice since finishing his formal education.

As of 2026 he practices law in Pennsylvania and represents clients in matters that intersect with finance and business, including cases brought in the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
