About Stephen P.
Stephen P. McConnell earned his law degree from Villanova University School of Law in 1997 after completing undergraduate studies at Duke University in 1993. His time at Duke laid a foundation in liberal arts and critical thinking. Villanova Law provided the legal training that launched his professional life.
He entered private practice following law school and rose through firm ranks to become a partner in 2004 at Reger Rizzo & Darnall LLP. That promotion came seven years after his J.D., a period during which he gained courtroom and client-side experience. Becoming a partner marked a turning point. It also placed him among the firm’s cohort responsible for case strategy and client relations.
McConnell is admitted to practice in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He maintains active memberships in the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the New Jersey State Bar. Those memberships reflect his ongoing connection to the professional communities in both states. He has worked on matters that require coordination across state lines and an understanding of differing procedural rules.
Colleagues describe him as steady and practical in approach. He pursues legal work with an emphasis on thorough preparation and clear communication. He balances litigation demands with the need to keep clients informed. In the office he has taken on mentoring roles for junior lawyers and participates in firm discussions about case management and trial readiness.
Outside courtroom and conference-room work, McConnell’s background in liberal arts shapes how he frames complex legal issues for clients and judges. He draws on that training when preparing briefs, organizing witness testimony and advising clients on procedural choices. The result is a practice that privileges clarity and directness.
As of 2026 he continues at Reger Rizzo & Darnall LLP, where he handles matters that arise in his admitted jurisdictions. He remains a member of the local bar associations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and he stays active in the day-to-day practice of law. He currently practices law in New Jersey and Pennsylvania through Reger Rizzo & Darnall LLP, handling matters across those jurisdictions.
