About Stephen

Stephen Martin built his career steadily after law school. He studied at Northeastern State University and later earned his law degree from Oklahoma City University School of Law. Those academic choices set the stage for a practice that spans both state and federal courts.

Early in his career Martin took on courtroom work. He has stood in trial courts and argued appeals. Over the years he secured admissions across several venues, including the Oklahoma bar, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Oklahoma, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. That range allows him to carry matters from the trial level through appellate review when necessary.

Colleagues describe him as someone who sees litigation as a process that requires careful preparation. He is methodical about case files and attentive to deadlines. On the record, he applies statute and precedent directly. Off the record, peers say he prefers straightforward advocacy rather than theatrical courtroom tactics.

His courtroom work covers both trial and appellate phases. He handles pleadings, motions and oral argument. He has worked on matters that require interaction with federal procedural rules as well as Oklahoma state procedures. The mix of trial and appellate practice has shaped how he evaluates risk and frames legal arguments.

Martin has also spent time counseling clients outside the courtroom. He prepares briefs, drafts legal opinions and helps clients understand the possible paths a dispute might take. That advisory work complements his litigation practice, giving him a rounded view of how cases evolve from initial filing to final decision.

He practices at Strong/Martin. There he represents clients in state and federal matters and appears regularly in both trial and appellate courts. He remains admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Tenth Circuit and the federal district courts in Oklahoma, and he continues to maintain an active courtroom docket at his firm. His current practice focuses on litigation in Oklahoma and federal courts.
