About Stephen Lewis
Stephen Lewis Townsend built a technical and business foundation before he turned to law. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems in 1999 and completed an MBA in 2006. He returned to school for a law degree and received a J.D. from South Texas College of Law in 2010.
Townsend's early career combined information technology and legal work. In 2006 he joined Brent Coon and Associates as Information Technology Director, a role that placed him at the intersection of systems management and firm operations. After finishing law school he moved into practice. He joined Bush Lewis Law Office, PLLC as an attorney in 2011, spent time at The Heartfield Law Office beginning in 2016, and in 2020 took a position at Bradley Law Office.
His courtroom admissions include the state courts of Texas as well as several federal forums. He is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern and Eastern Districts of Texas and is also admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, a credential that marks a particular legal concentration in employment-related matters.
Townsend combines litigation and advisory work. His practice addresses employment disputes and related workplace issues. In court files and client meetings he applies procedural and evidentiary tools gathered from both his litigation practice and earlier professional work in information systems. He has handled cases that require attention to technical records and compliance questions as well as the more routine elements of employment litigation.
He has been active in local professional and civic institutions. Townsend has served on the board of Beaumont Products and Services since 2019 and has been involved with the YMCA of Southeast Texas, including a period as chairperson beginning in 2014. He is a member of The Michelle F. Mehaffy Inn of Court and has volunteered with the Jefferson County Pro Bono Program since 2012. He also holds membership in the Jefferson County Bar Association, where he has been listed since 2011.
Colleagues describe Townsend as someone who mixes an analytical approach to facts with attention to procedural detail. He continues to practice at Bradley Law Office, handling labor and employment matters and related litigation.
