About Stephen J.

Stephen J. Chiasson built a career that blends accounting training and legal practice. He earned a B.S. in Accountancy from Bentley University in 1981 and went on to receive his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1988. Those two degrees inform how he approaches complex matters that cross financial and legal lines.

After law school Chiasson entered practice across multiple states and federal districts. He is admitted to practice in California, Michigan and Massachusetts. He also holds admission in several federal courts, including the Northern and Southern Districts of California, the Central District of California, the Eastern District of Michigan and the District of Massachusetts. That multi-jurisdictional standing has allowed him to handle matters that require filings or appearances in different forums.

Chiasson serves as Of Counsel at Sheff Law. In that role he provides experienced counsel on matters that arise in the jurisdictions where he is admitted. He maintains active memberships in the California State Bar, the Michigan State Bar and the Massachusetts State Bar and is a member of the American Association for Justice. Those affiliations keep him connected to litigation developments and bar activities across three states.

His background in accountancy informs his work. Understanding financial records and the language of numbers can be an asset when cases require detailed financial analysis or explanation. Colleagues and clients have looked to that dual training on matters that involve economic issues, complex calculations or the interpretation of financial documents.

Chiasson’s practice spans state and federal arenas. He has experience preparing filings and appearances in the listed federal districts and in state courts where he holds admission. That breadth means he is accustomed to the procedural differences between courts and the logistics of litigating across state lines.

He works out of The Daniel Webster Suite and continues to accept matters that align with his admissions and experience. He remains active in bar associations and professional groups that relate to trial practice and litigation. His current practice centers on representing clients in state and federal courts in California, Michigan and Massachusetts.
