About Stephen

Stephen Higgins built an uncommon academic foundation before stepping into law. He completed a Bachelor of Science at Northeastern University in 1995 and returned to New Jersey for parallel graduate degrees, earning both a Juris Doctor from Rutgers School of Law–Camden and an MBA from Rutgers University–Camden in 2005. The dual degrees give him a background in both legal analysis and business principles.

Higgins first entered courtrooms and firm corridors early in his career. In 2002 he served as a law clerk and associate at Brown & Connery. That role came while he was still in law school and provided practical exposure to litigation and client work. After law school he worked at Finebloom & Haenel, P.A., where he continued to develop courtroom experience and client counseling skills. He later joined The Law Place as a lawyer, a position he holds in his current practice.

He is admitted to practice in Florida, New Jersey and Pennsylvania and holds membership in several professional organizations. Those memberships include the Florida Bar Association, the New Jersey Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Sarasota County Bar Association. The combination of multi-state admissions and local bar involvement positions him to handle matters that cross state lines and touch on regional practice norms.

Colleagues describe his approach as pragmatic and detail-oriented. He spends time on case preparation and client communication. He moves between courtroom demands and transactional considerations, and his business training informs how he evaluates risk and strategy for clients. His work history shows a steady progression from clerking to associate responsibilities and then to a lawyer role at his current firm.

Cases and engagements over the years have required him to balance legal principles with practical outcomes. He has experience drafting pleadings, participating in hearings and working directly with clients to clarify objectives. That hands-on work remains part of his day-to-day practice. In recent years his schedule has included representation of individuals and businesses on matters arising in the states where he is licensed.

He maintains active memberships in state and local bar groups and remains involved in professional circles where rules, procedure and practice are discussed. He practices at The Law Place, handling matters across Florida, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
