About Stephen
Stephen Brown built an academic foundation that combines political studies and environmental inquiry before turning to the law. He earned dual bachelor's degrees from Florida State University in 2000—one in Political Science and Social Science, the other in Environmental Studies. He went on to receive his J.D. from the University of Florida in 2004.
After law school he moved into public service. In 2007 he served as an Assistant State Lawyer in the Office of the State Lawyer. That period placed him inside the workings of state-level legal processes and courtroom procedure.
In 2011 he joined Brown & Rice, PA as a shareholder and partner. His admissions include the Florida bar and federal practice in the Middle District of Florida, both at the district court and bankruptcy court levels. Those credentials enable him to handle matters that arise in state and federal forums, including cases that require bankruptcy court filings.
Beyond courtroom practice, Brown has pursued formal training in mediation. The Florida Supreme Court has certified him in Appellate Mediation, County Court Mediation, Family Mediation, Circuit Civil Mediation and Dependency Mediation. Those certifications allow him to serve as a neutral in a range of dispute-resolution settings and to participate in court-appointed mediation programs.
He has maintained ties to the local bar community for many years. He is a current member of the Osceola County Bar Association and has held a membership in the Orange County Bar Association since 2008. Those associations have been a regular part of his professional network and local legal activity.
Public service and civic engagement have also intersected with his career. He has been involved in a judicial campaign under the Stephen Brown Judicial Campaign banner, a step that reflects engagement with the local legal and civic landscape.
Colleagues and clients may encounter Brown in courtrooms, mediation rooms or at local bar events. His combined background in state government work, federal admissions and multiple mediation certifications informs how he approaches cases. He continues to practice law at Brown & Rice, PA, handling matters that involve litigation, federal filings and court-annexed mediation.
