About Stephen
Stephen Bennett entered New York’s legal world in a support role and moved steadily into positions of increasing responsibility. He began as a legal assistant at Fried Frank in 2007, handling day-to-day matters that kept teams organized and cases moving. That early work gave him a clear sense of how large firms operate and the rhythms of litigation practice.
In 2011 Bennett served as a law clerk at Morrison Mahoney LLP. There he worked on research and drafting that assisted trial teams and senior associates. The role exposed him to motion practice and the preparation that underlies courtroom work. It also sharpened skills in document review and case strategy.
The following year he took a position as a judicial extern to the Honorable Eugene Fahey in the New York State Unified Court System. The externship offered a close view of judicial decision-making. Bennett assisted on legal research and observed the drafting of opinions, gaining perspective on how judges analyze arguments and structure findings of fact and conclusions of law.
Also in 2012 he joined Evans Fox LLP and became a partner. His move into partnership came early in his career and marked a transition from support and clerk roles to firm leadership. In that capacity he has overseen matters, coordinated teams, interacted with clients, and helped manage the responsibilities that come with running a practice.
Across these positions Bennett developed concrete skills that shape his work today. He has practical courtroom experience from his time supporting litigation teams, and he has the analytical habits that come from extended research and clerking in judicial chambers. He is experienced in drafting briefs, managing discovery, and preparing arguments. Younger lawyers at his firm have relied on his practical guidance on litigation mechanics and case organization.
He maintains a New York practice at Evans Fox LLP. His day-to-day work involves representing clients, managing litigation files, and preparing legal memoranda and court filings. He is based in New York and continues to handle matters for the firm in that jurisdiction, combining courtroom preparation with counsel to clients in litigation settings.
