About Stephanie

Stephanie Edwards studied American government at the University of Virginia before turning to law. She earned her J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law and later completed an LL.M. in Elder Law at Stetson University College of Law. Those academic choices set the stage for a career centered on older adults, families, and the legal issues that affect them.

After law school and advanced study, Edwards launched her own practice. In 2009 she opened Edwards Elder Law, P.A., and has operated the firm since. The decision to form a solo practice followed specialized training in elder law and an interest in the intersection of health, finance and long-term care planning. She is licensed to practice in Florida and has built a practice rooted in the state’s regulatory and Medicaid systems.

Edwards concentrates on matters common to older clients and their families. Her work includes estate planning, Medicaid planning, probate and guardianship. She also handles trust matters and other aspects of long-term care planning. Cases range from drafting wills and trusts to advising on eligibility for public benefits and representing guardianship clients in court. She handles contentious matters as well as routine planning, aiming to clarify options and practical consequences for people facing complex decisions.

Professional affiliations have been a consistent part of her career. Since 2009 she has been a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys. She also holds memberships in WealthCounsel and ElderCounsel, and participates in the Florida Bar’s Elder Law Section and its Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section. Locally, she belongs to the St. Petersburg Bar Association’s Probate and Guardianship Section. These memberships reflect an ongoing engagement with the professional community and current developments in elder law and estate practice.

Clients who come to Edwards Elder Law, P.A. typically seek hands-on counsel about aging-related legal needs. The firm handles planning documents, benefit eligibility matters, probate administration and guardianship proceedings. Edwards combines specialized postgraduate training with practical courtroom and transactional experience. She has maintained the practice she founded and continues to serve clients across Florida.

Her current practice focuses on elder law, estate planning, probate and related matters.
