About Stefany A.
Stefany A. Tewell began her academic path at Texas A&M University, where she completed a Bachelor of Arts in 1993, majoring in journalism with a minor in marketing. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law in 1995. Those formative years gave her a mix of writing discipline and legal training, a combination that informs her courtroom style and drafting work.
After law school she built a career that has taken her into multiple jurisdictions. She is licensed to practice in Nevada and Texas, and she appears before the United States District Court for the District of Nevada. The record of admissions underscores a practice that crosses state lines and includes federal litigation.
Tewell joined Doyen Sebesta & Poelma, LLLP and rose to partner in 2021. That title reflects more than a change on a business card. It marks a shift in responsibilities: more client strategy, more courtroom leadership, and a larger role in guiding younger attorneys. Colleagues describe her as steady under pressure and exacting in preparation. Her courtroom appearances include trials and hearings in both state and federal forums.
Her practice involves civil litigation and appeals. She handles pretrial motions, discovery disputes, and oral argument on appeal. Tewell is known for concise briefs and a careful approach to appellate record development. In federal matters she manages the deadlines and procedural rules that differ from those at the state level, navigating those differences while advancing her clients’ positions.
Outside of court filings and hearings, she spends time mentoring associates and working on case strategy. Partnership duties have expanded her role in client counseling and case selection, and she takes an active part in deciding litigation paths. She also focuses on ensuring that the factual record supports any appellate arguments that might follow trial.
Her education in journalism continues to show in courtroom work. Plain and clear writing, attention to narrative, and an eye for persuasive presentation are recurrent themes in her approach. She lives and works in a practice that spans Nevada and Texas and includes federal litigation in the District of Nevada. She remains a partner at Doyen Sebesta & Poelma, LLLP, where her work concentrates on civil litigation and appellate matters.
