About Stacey
Stacey Goad studied sociology at Georgia State University before turning to law. She earned a B.A. in 2002 in Sociology (Social Conflict and Inequality) and completed her J.D. at Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in 2007. Those academic choices set a practical tone for the work that followed.
Her early professional life mixed politics and public service. In 2007 she worked as a manager for the Democratic Party of Georgia. The next year she served as a legal intern in the Clayton County Office of the District Attorney. That internship led into a series of prosecutorial roles that shaped much of her courtroom background.
From 2009 she worked as a senior prosecuting attorney in the Clayton County Solicitor General’s Office. She spent time in the Chatham County District Attorney’s Office as an assistant district attorney in 2013. Those positions exposed her to high-volume dockets and a range of criminal cases. They also provided experience in trial work and courtroom procedure.
Goad moved into private practice in 2014 when she founded Goad Law, LLC. The firm reflects her experience on both sides of the aisle: prosecution and defense. Starting her own practice allowed her to shape how cases are handled and to work directly with clients on strategy and case management.
Her credentials include training geared toward specialized criminal matters. She holds a Certified At-Risk Adult Crime Tactics Specialist certificate from the Georgia Department of Human Services and a Vehicular Homicide Training Certification Award from the Georgia Public Safety Training Center. Those certifications signal experience in cases involving vulnerable adults and serious traffic-related offenses.
She is active in professional groups across the state and nationally. She has been a member of the Georgia State Bar and several of its sections since 2008, including the Appellate Practice Section and the Elder Law Section. She also belongs to the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Savannah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, both memberships beginning in 2014. Nationally, she has been a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 2008. She held membership in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia from 2012 to 2016.
Admitted to practice in Georgia and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit, she draws on years in public prosecution and private defense. She currently practices through Goad Law, LLC, concentrating on criminal defense, cases involving at-risk adults and vehicular homicide, and appellate matters.
