About Songmee L.

Songmee L. Connolly built a steady legal path after finishing her studies at two notable institutions. She earned a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 2003, following a B.A. in Economics and German Studies from Wellesley College in 1997. The combination of a liberal arts undergraduate degree and a professional law education shaped a pragmatic approach to practice.

Her early years after law school saw her enter private practice. Over time she became associated with Fenwick & West LLP, a firm known for serving clients in technology and life sciences sectors, among others. She worked on matters that required courtroom experience as well as transactional and advisory work. Her colleagues describe her as methodical in case preparation and clear in written advocacy.

Connolly is admitted to practice in California and holds admission to several federal courts across the state. She is authorized in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, the Eastern District of California, the Northern District of California and the Southern District of California. That multi-district admission gives her the ability to handle matters that cross geographic and procedural lines within the state federal system.

Her practice has involved both litigation-related tasks and non-litigation responsibilities. She has drafted pleadings and motions, participated in discovery processes, and prepared briefs for district court proceedings. At the same time she has advised clients on regulatory and compliance questions that intersect with federal court considerations. She approaches each matter by breaking complex issues into discrete, manageable components.

Outside of courtroom work, Connolly has worked on internal firm matters and collaborated with multidisciplinary teams. She communicates technical and legal concepts in plain terms for clients who are not specialists. Peers note that she is thorough when preparing records and disciplined about court deadlines.

She continues to practice in California and in the federal courts listed above. Her current practice focuses on matters litigated and counseled in California state courts and the U.S. District Courts for the Central, Eastern, Northern and Southern Districts of California.
