About Son Sonny
Son Sonny Nguyen built a legal path that mixes formal study and courtroom observation. He trained in accounting before turning to law, and he later pursued additional study in dispute resolution. That combination informs the work he does today.
Nguyen earned his undergraduate degree in accounting from Central Washington University. He then took the nontraditional route to the bar by completing his J.D. at Concord Law School, now part of Purdue Global. He followed that with an LL.M. in alternative dispute resolution from Willamette University College of Law. Those studies gave him classroom grounding in both transactional detail and the techniques used to resolve disputes outside trial.
Early in his legal career Nguyen spent time in the judicial system as an extern with the Oregon Judicial Department. That placement offered a close view of judicial decision-making and courtroom procedure. In 2016 he joined Park Chenaur & Associates, Inc., P.S. as a lawyer. At the firm he took on responsibilities that range from client counseling to managing litigation matters.
Nguyen is admitted to practice in Washington and in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington. He is a current member of the Washington State Bar Association. In addition to his license to practice law, he holds certification as a general civil mediator from the Oregon Judicial Department. The certification qualifies him to sit in on mediations and to help opposing parties work toward settlements.
Colleagues describe his approach as pragmatic and detail-oriented. He tends to break complex issues into discrete tasks and to press for practical resolutions. He has handled cases that require both an understanding of financial records and an ability to manage negotiations between parties. That mix reflects his accounting background and his ADR training.
Nguyen’s work at Park Chenaur & Associates keeps him involved in civil matters and dispute resolution. He splits his time between advising clients, preparing filings, and participating in mediations. He handles civil disputes and serves as a general civil mediator in Washington and in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.
He maintains an active membership in the Washington State Bar Association and continues to accept matters through Park Chenaur & Associates, Inc., P.S. His current practice centers on civil litigation and mediation in state and federal forums.
