About Shawn M.

Shawn M. Stottlemyer took a traditional path into the law. He finished his undergraduate degree in political and economic philosophy at Wheeling Jesuit University in 2008 after beginning studies in 2004. He then enrolled at Dickinson School of Law and earned his J.D. in 2011.

His earliest legal work came while he was still a student. In 2010 he served as a certified legal intern at MidPenn Legal Services. That experience put him in client-facing roles and exposed him to the day-to-day demands of legal aid practice.

After law school he worked with Allied Lawyers of Central Pennsylvania in 2011, performing duties that combined clerking and lawyer responsibilities. The next year he joined the Law Office of Scott N. Pletcher, where he handled matters typical of a small firm setting and expanded his courtroom and client work. In 2013 he moved to Mooney Law and has been listed there in subsequent records.

Stottlemyer is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania. He maintains memberships in the Pennsylvania Bar Association and participates in the Cumberland County Pro Bono Section. Those affiliations reflect ongoing ties to the local legal community and to volunteer legal services.

His career includes both public interest work and private practice. The early internships and the pro bono involvement suggest experience in civil legal aid and client advocacy. Later roles at private firms added routine law office responsibilities and more formal attorney work, including courtroom appearances and client counseling.

Colleagues describe him as steady in court and thorough in preparation. He approaches cases methodically and pays attention to procedural detail. That temperament fits both pro bono matters and the more predictable rhythms of firm practice.

Outside of casework, his background in political and economic philosophy informs a measured, analytical approach to legal questions. The academic training was followed quickly by hands-on legal roles, allowing theory and practice to intersect early in his career.

He currently practices at Mooney Law in Pennsylvania, handling a range of legal matters for clients in the state.
