About Shawn A

Shawn A Kollie built a foundation in finance before turning to law. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Finance from Oregon State University in 2004. After several years, he enrolled at the University of Oregon School of Law in 2008 and received his Juris Doctor in 2011.

His first recorded legal position came in 2010 at Short Law Group, PC. That early exposure to practice coincided with his final year of law school and gave him experience in day-to-day legal work. In 2016 he opened his own firm, Kollie Law, PC, taking on the responsibilities of running a small practice while representing clients in state matters.

Kollie’s involvement in professional organizations dates back to his early years as a lawyer. He has been a member of the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers since 2011 and maintains other professional memberships. He pursued specialized training in impaired-driving investigation and testing, earning a certification in Standardized Field Sobriety Tests from LaPier & Associates accredited by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. That training informs how he approaches cases involving alcohol and driving offenses.

Over time he has concentrated on criminal defense work in Oregon courts. He handles a range of matters that commonly arise in criminal practice, including impaired driving cases and related traffic offenses. He prepares motions, manages discovery, negotiates with prosecutors and, when appropriate, takes cases to trial. He represents individuals at various stages of the criminal process, from initial arraignment through resolution.

Running a solo firm means balancing client work with business operations. Kollie oversees case management, client intake and courtroom appearances. He responds to routine procedural matters and attends court hearings across Oregon. His practice reflects the practical demands of defending individuals in state criminal proceedings rather than a focus on civil litigation or corporate transactions.

Clients and colleagues see him as a local practitioner who works within Oregon’s legal system. He continues to maintain ties to professional groups that concentrate on criminal defense and keeps his training current in areas that affect courtroom practice in DUI and traffic cases. He currently practices at Kollie Law, PC, representing clients in criminal defense matters in Oregon.
