About Shashi S
Shashi S Jairam followed an academic arc that began in human services and moved steadily toward the courtroom. He earned a B.S. in Human Services and Criminal Justice from Wayland Baptist University in 1993, then completed an M.A. in Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Maryland, College Park in 1998. He returned to Maryland for his law degree, receiving his J.D. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law in 2011.
After law school Jairam entered public service in South Florida. In 2011 he worked as a prosecutor at the Palm Beach County State Lawyer's Office. The role put him in court and gave him early exposure to the mechanics of criminal practice and case management in a busy county system.
Three years later he moved into private practice. In 2014 Jairam became owner and managing partner of J & J Law Office, P.A. He built the firm around criminal defense work and related matters that arise when people face state charges. As managing partner he oversees case strategy and the daily operations of the office.
His training in criminology and human services informs how he approaches clients and cases. That background offers a different perspective than a straight path from law school into a private firm. It can affect how he evaluates evidence, considers mitigation and discusses options with clients.
Jairam is licensed to practice in Florida. He maintains professional ties through memberships in the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Palm Beach Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Those memberships connect him to local and statewide defense lawyers and to continuing legal education offerings relevant to criminal practice.
Colleagues describe Jairam as practical and hands-on in the office. He handles routine pretrial work, negotiations and trials that come through his practice. He balances courtroom time with the administrative responsibilities of running a small firm.
He continues to operate J & J Law Office, P.A., where his practice concentrates on criminal defense matters in Florida.
