About Sharon
Sharon Remis built a foundation in the liberal arts before moving into law. She earned a B.A. from Indiana University–Bloomington in 1988, double-majoring in political science and history and taking a minor in business. She then completed her J.D. at Saint Louis University School of Law in 1992.
Her legal career has been rooted in the St. Louis area. Since the mid-1990s she has been active in local bar groups. She joined the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and the St. Louis County Bar Association in 1995 and served as chair of the Family Law Section of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis from 2000 to 2003. Those roles kept her involved in the procedural and practice issues that shape family court work.
Remis’s work has concentrated on family law and domestic relations. She has handled matters that include divorce, child custody and parenting plans, spousal and child support, and related court proceedings. Her record includes appearances in St. Louis area courts and participation in hearings and negotiations that resolve contested family matters.
Her professional affiliations extend beyond the local bar. She is a current member of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, a group that brings together judges, attorneys and mental health professionals who work on family law and custody issues. That connection has informed how she approaches cases that involve complex family dynamics and disputed parenting time.
Today she practices at Gillespie, Hetlage & Coughlin, LLC in St. Louis. She is licensed to practice in Missouri and continues to handle family law matters for clients in the region. Her current practice centers on family law matters.
