About Shannon
Shannon Lang built her academic foundation at San Diego State University, where she earned a B.A. in sociology and biology. She then earned an M.S. in forensic science from Marshall University in 2004 and completed her J.D. at the University of Virginia in 2007. The combination of science and law shaped an early interest in cases that touch on technical evidence and regulatory questions.
Lang began her legal career in the federal courthouse, serving as a law clerk in 2007 for Judge Nancy Friedman Atlas in the Southern District of Texas. That clerkship offered a close view of federal procedure and courtroom practice. She moved into large-firm practice the next year, joining Covington & Burling LLP as an associate in 2008 and later working at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP beginning in 2010.
In 2012 Lang joined Edison McDowell & Hetherington, LLP, and two years later she moved on to the Sturm Law Office. Her career path also includes a stint as of counsel at Burford Perry in 2016. In 2017 she began practicing at Lang & Associates, PLLC, where she continues to work. Across those roles she has handled a range of litigation and advisory matters in civil and regulatory contexts.
Lang is licensed to practice in Texas, California and the District of Columbia. She maintains memberships in several professional groups and civic organizations. She has been a member of the Houston Bar Association and the Houston Association for Women Lawyers since 2009. Those memberships have kept her engaged with local legal networks and resources for practitioners in the Houston area.
Her dual background in forensic science and law informs how she approaches evidence and technical issues in cases. Clients and colleagues see that she prioritizes careful preparation, clear presentation of technical material, and practical problem solving. She practices at Lang & Associates, PLLC, and represents clients across her admitted jurisdictions in matters that often involve complex factual or regulatory elements.
