About Shana
Shana Siegel studied history and ideas at Barnard College before turning to law at Georgetown University Law Center. Her academic path placed her at two institutions known for their rigorous programs. She left Georgetown ready for a mix of regulatory work and practical legal problem-solving.
She entered the professional world in health care regulation. In 1990 she joined AARP as a health care regulatory specialist. That role put her in the middle of policy issues affecting older Americans. It also introduced her to the intersection of law, policy and day-to-day operational questions faced by providers and advocacy groups.
By 1994 she had moved into private practice as an associate at Abrams Fensterman. The firm work broadened her exposure to litigation and transactional matters. The experience offered a contrast to her earlier regulatory role and added hands-on practice in legal drafting and client counseling.
In 1997 Siegel shifted to legal publishing. She worked as a health law legal editor and marketing manager for Matthew Bender/Lexis. Editing case law and regulatory commentary sharpened her attention to detail. The marketing responsibilities required translating technical material for varied audiences. Both strands reinforced skills that would prove useful in later practice.
In 2005 she opened the Law Offices of Shana Siegel, taking on the responsibilities of solo practice. That period allowed her to advise clients directly and manage the full range of a small law office. Two years later she joined WanderPolo Law LLC as an associate, returning to a firm environment where she could collaborate with other attorneys on more complex matters.
Siegel is admitted to practice in both New York and New Jersey. Over several decades she has handled matters that touch on health care regulation, compliance and the business concerns of health-related entities. Her career spans policy work, firm practice, publishing and solo practice. That combination gives her a varied perspective on how laws are written, interpreted and applied.
She is based at WanderPolo Law, LLC. Her work there continues to involve regulatory issues and counseling for clients in the health care sector. Her current practice centers on advising health care entities and professionals on regulatory compliance and related transactional concerns.
