About Seth M.
Seth M. Moyers took a winding path into the law. He began at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where he earned a B.A. in English. He then moved on to Mississippi College School of Law and received his J.D. There, he built the practical foundation that would carry him into litigation practice.
Early in his career, Moyers joined Wiener, Weiss & Madison, A Professional Corporation. Over time he moved into leadership. In 2009 he became a shareholder at the firm. That title reflects years of courtroom work and case management rather than an honorary milestone.
Moyers works in both state and federal arenas. He is admitted in Louisiana and in several federal jurisdictions. Those include the Fifth Circuit and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Western and Middle Districts of Louisiana. He has handled matters that required familiarity with procedural rules across these courts and the range of remedies they offer.
Outside the courtroom, Moyers maintains an active presence in local and state bar organizations. He is a current member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Shreveport Bar Association. He also belongs to the Harry V. Booth–Judge Henry A. American Inns of Court, an organization that brings judges and lawyers together for mentorship and professional development. These memberships reflect an interest in professional standards and collegial exchange.
Colleagues describe Moyers as someone who favors clear legal writing and practical problem solving. He prepares filings that aim to be concise and persuasive. He approaches case strategy with an eye toward the realities of litigation schedules, evidence, and client goals. That approach shapes how he manages a docket and communicates with clients.
At Wiener, Weiss & Madison, Moyers has taken on a range of responsibilities. He has tried cases, handled motions practice in federal courts, and advised clients on procedural tactics. His role as shareholder includes supervising more junior lawyers and coordinating with colleagues on complex matters. It also involves the administrative duties that come with firm leadership.
Outside of work, Moyers’s background in English informs his attention to language in legal documents. He tends to favor plain, direct prose in briefs and correspondence. He continues to participate in bar activities in Louisiana and the Shreveport community. He currently practices at Wiener, Weiss & Madison, A Professional Corporation, where his work centers on federal and state-court litigation.
