About Seppi
Seppi Esfandi built his legal foundation at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he earned a B.A. in History in 1996 and a J.D. in 2000. He studied criminal justice during law school and took a path into public service almost immediately after graduation. The early academic experience left him comfortable with courtroom procedure and evidence, and he carried that into the first years of his practice.
Esfandi began his career as an assistant public defender in the Los Angeles County Office of the Public Defender in 2001. He handled a steady docket of misdemeanor and felony matters, representing clients at arraignments, pretrial hearings and trials. Those years in the public defender’s office shaped his approach to client work. He learned to think on his feet and to prepare cases under tight deadlines. The job also exposed him to a wide range of criminal issues, from drug cases to serious violent felony prosecutions.
After nearly a decade of public defense, he left the county office and opened Esfandi Law Group in 2010. Since then he has represented clients in state and federal courts. He is admitted to practice in California and to appear before the Ninth Circuit and the Federal Circuit. He is a Certified Criminal Law Specialist through the California Board of Legal Specialization, a credential that reflects specialized training and experience in criminal law.
Colleagues and clients see him as an experienced trial lawyer who relies on courtroom practice rather than posture. He keeps case preparation direct and practical. That approach shows in plea negotiations as well as jury trials. He maintains membership in the Los Angeles County Bar Association and has practiced criminal defense continuously since 2000. His caseload has included both trial work and appellate matters filed in federal appellate courts.
Esfandi keeps his practice rooted in the work he did as a public defender. He assigns high priority to investigation, witness preparation and cross-examination. The office he leads handles a spectrum of criminal matters, and he divides his time between trial preparation and appellate briefing when cases move beyond the trial court. He continues to practice criminal defense at Esfandi Law Group, where he concentrates on defending clients in state and federal criminal matters.
