About Sean M.

Sean M. Towner built his legal foundation in the Midwest. He earned a Bachelor of Science in political science and English from Ball State University in 2006, then took his law degree from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 2009. The trajectory from undergraduate studies to law school set a clear path toward courtroom practice.

After law school he returned to Indiana and joined the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office. He served as a deputy prosecuting attorney beginning in 2009. That period gave him regular exposure to courtroom procedures, case preparation and trial work. He handled matters on behalf of the county and gained practical experience early in his career.

Towner moved into private practice later in the 2010s. He joined May Oberfell Lorber and became a partner in 2017. At the firm he has handled a range of matters that required appearances in both state and federal forums. His admissions include the Indiana and Michigan bars, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and several federal district courts, including the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana and the Western District of Michigan. Those credentials reflect a practice that spans state and federal litigation.

Professional associations have been part of his working life. He holds membership in the St. Joseph County Bar Association and the Robert A. Grant Inn of Court. He has been a member of the Indiana State Bar Association since 2010. These memberships place him in regular professional networks and continuing legal education circles within the region.

Colleagues describe him as steady at the podium and attentive to legal detail. He has combined prosecutorial experience with private practice responsibilities. That mix informs how he approaches litigation strategy, evidentiary issues and courtroom advocacy. He has handled filings and hearings in trial courts and appeals, drawing on admitted jurisdictions across the Midwest.

Today he practices out of May Oberfell Lorber. He works in both state and federal courts in Indiana and Michigan, representing clients in matters that require litigation and appellate experience. He currently practices in state and federal courts in Indiana and Michigan.
