About Sean M.

Sean M. Houlihan earned his J.D. from DePaul College of Law in 2001 after completing a B.A. at the University of Illinois–Chicago in 1996. He moved from the classroom to courtroom-ready training during those years, developing the foundation that would shape his practice. The law degree was followed by steady involvement in bar and trial lawyer organizations.

By 2002 he had joined the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, where he has served on the Amicus Brief Committee. He is also a member of the Federal Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association. Those memberships map neatly onto a career spent in litigation circles and public-service legal work.

Houlihan has been active in Chicago volunteer legal services for more than two decades. Since 2003 he has volunteered at the Jane Adams Hull House Legal Clinic through Chicago Volunteer Legal Services, handling matters that serve low-income residents of the city. That long-term volunteer work runs alongside his private practice and reflects sustained participation in pro bono efforts.

He is admitted to practice in Illinois and in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. His professional affiliations underscore his courtroom orientation. Participation on an amicus committee and long-standing membership in trial lawyer groups indicate regular engagement with appellate and trial issues, as well as collective efforts to influence legal arguments and policy through filed briefs.

Houlihan works at Power Rogers & Smith, P.C., where he applies his trial experience to client matters. His practice centers on trial work and civil litigation, and he combines courtroom practice with ongoing volunteer legal services in Chicago. He remains active in bar associations and trial lawyer groups while continuing his private practice at Power Rogers & Smith, P.C.
