About Sean
Sean Hessler earned his J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2006. He completed his legal education after undergraduate studies and entered public service early in his career. The law school credential set the stage for work in the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office and later private practice.
He began his legal career in the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office in 2006. There he served as a deputy prosecuting lawyer and rose to supervise the office’s gang unit. The job demanded courtroom time, case screening, and coordination with law enforcement. Those years in the prosecutor’s office gave him steady trial experience and exposure to complex criminal investigations.
In 2013 he launched Hessler Law PC and took on the role of managing partner. Running a small firm required shifting from a government role to handling all aspects of a private practice. He manages case intake, client counseling, motion practice, and trial preparation. The move reflected a transition from public prosecution to representing clients in matters that often touch on the same areas he handled as a prosecutor.
Hessler maintains professional ties through the Indianapolis Bar Association. He holds memberships in the association’s Criminal Justice Section and in its Solo/Small Firm Practice Section. He is also listed as a general member of the Indianapolis Bar Association. Those affiliations place him in regular contact with local colleagues and continuing legal education opportunities.
The arc of his career — from supervising a prosecutorial unit to leading a private firm — shows a continuity of courtroom work. He has handled investigations, developed trial strategies, and worked with multidisciplinary teams. At Hessler Law PC he draws on that prosecutorial background when preparing defenses and advising clients about litigation risks and procedural choices.
Clients and colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing cases and persistent in court. He has built a practice that emphasizes litigation readiness and hands-on file management. He currently focuses his practice on criminal defense and trial litigation.
