About Seamus M

Seamus M Lavin built a career at the intersection of tax rules and family planning. He started his academic path at Loyola College, earning a Bachelor of Arts in history in 1997. He went on to Rutgers School of Law–Camden and received his J.D. in 2001. Later he returned to study tax matters more deeply, completing an Estate Planning Certification in 2012 and an LL.M. in Taxation in 2015 from Villanova University School of Law.

His early professional years included a stint as an associate at Goldberg, Meanix & Muth in 2003. He left to start his own practice in 2006, opening the Law Offices of Seamus M. Lavin. That move gave him hands-on experience handling client matters across a range of estate and tax issues. He incorporated and operated Lavin Law Offices, P.C. beginning in 2010, and spent time as an associate at Ryan, Morton & Imms, LLC in 2011.

Over time his work reflected the coursework he pursued at Villanova. He has handled estate planning, tax-related matters, and related probate issues. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and he is authorized to appear in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Those admissions allow him to work on state-level estate matters and federal tax disputes when they arise.

Colleagues and clients have encountered him in a mix of transactional and advisory roles. He has structured wills, trusts and estate plans, and advised on tax consequences tied to those instruments. He has also assisted in the administration of estates, helping executors and trustees meet filing and reporting obligations that can be complex when taxes are implicated.

His professional trajectory combines solo practice experience with roles at small firms. Running his own offices gave him exposure to intake, client counseling and case management. Working as an associate provided the opportunity to collaborate on larger matters and to handle different procedural demands.

Today he practices at Wetzel Gagliardi Fetter & Lavin LLC. He continues to work on estate planning and tax-related legal matters and represents clients in matters tied to probate and tax compliance at both state and federal levels.
