About Scott Michael

Scott Michael Peterson built his legal life around the courtroom. He is methodical and crisp in his approach to litigation. Colleagues describe him as steady under pressure and careful in his preparation.

Peterson studied at Albany Law School of Union University. He began law school in 2001 and earned his J.D. in 2004. That period shaped his interest in trial work and legal procedure. He also took part in clinics and moot court while in school, experiences that pushed him toward an active trial practice after graduation.

Early in his career Peterson joined professional groups that complement trial work. He has been a member of the New York State Bar Association Trial Lawyers Section since 2005 and serves on its Executive Committee. That role has kept him connected to peers across the state and involved in discussions about litigation practice, trial advocacy, and procedural developments in New York courts.

He is admitted to practice in New York and to appear before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Those jurisdictions frame much of his practice. His work has centered on civil litigation, where he handles pretrial litigation, motions practice, and courtroom matters. He tends to work on contested cases that require detailed factual development and focused advocacy. He prepares cases for trial and handles evidentiary and procedural disputes in court.

Peterson’s professional path is straightforward rather than flashy. He has built steady experience in trial procedures and appellate practice in the Second Circuit. Outside of court he has stayed active in bar activities, drawing on those networks to follow changes in New York law and trial technique. He practices from his main office and manages a caseload that reflects his training and long-standing involvement in trial work. His current practice focuses on civil litigation and appellate work in New York and the Second Circuit.
