About Scott J.
Scott J. Jontiff built a legal foundation at the University of Florida, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1984. He continued his studies at the University of Miami School of Law and received his Juris Doctor in 1988. Those years established the academic grounding that would carry him into private practice and federal court work.
He entered practice in Florida and has maintained an active presence in the state's legal community. Records show he has been in good standing since 1989. In 1991 he took on a leadership role as managing partner of Jontiff & Jontiff. That position put him at the center of firm operations, client development and litigation strategy, and it has defined much of his professional life since.
His admissions reflect a practice that spans trial and appellate forums. In 1993 he qualified to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida as a member of its Trial Bar. He also was admitted to practice in the Middle District of Florida the same year. That year he also gained the right to appear before the Supreme Court of the United States as a Lawyer and Counselor of the Court. Those credentials signal regular work in federal courtrooms and, at times, on higher court pleadings.
Beyond courtroom admissions, he holds a state-issued notary public commission from the State of Florida Executive Department. The notary role supplements his transactional and document-handling responsibilities at the firm.
At Jontiff & Jontiff he manages the firm's day-to-day needs while directing case strategy and client communication. His practice has involved federal court appearances and filings at the district and appellate levels. Colleagues describe his approach as methodical: he prepares for trial and briefing with an eye toward practical resolution and clear presentation to judges and juries.
Across decades he has balanced running a small firm with maintaining active courtroom practice. He remains based in Florida, retains federal admissions and a Supreme Court credential, and continues to oversee matters at Jontiff & Jontiff. His current practice centers on federal trial work and appellate matters.
