About Scott G.
Scott G. Richmond trained first as an accountant and then as a lawyer. He earned a B.A. in accounting from Michigan State University in 1990 and completed his J.D. at Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1995. Those two strands — numbers and law — recur throughout his career.
After law school he began practicing in Illinois. Over the years he has combined legal work with roles in local government and nonprofit boards. He served as a trustee for the Village of South Elgin from 2005 to 2013 and returned to that office in 2014, where he continues to serve. He has also taken on responsibilities in the healthcare and banking sectors, sitting on the board of Advocate Sherman Hospital and on the board of St. Charles Bank & Trust Company, where he heads the audit committee.
Richmond’s community involvement extends beyond corporate boards. He sits on the board of Food for Greater Elgin and is listed as a past chairman. He served as Vice Chair of the Brett Armin Sarcoma Foundation from 2008 until 2016 and remains affiliated with the organization. From 2010 through 2016 he served on the Board of Managers for the Kane County Bar Association, a role that placed him alongside peers in county legal affairs.
The thread of accounting runs through his practice. His undergraduate training in accounting gives him a practical edge when legal matters touch on financial statements, audits, regulatory compliance, or corporate governance. Colleagues describe him as careful with figures and deliberate in analysis. He brings that attention to detail to board work, where audit committee duties often require translating complex financial information into governance decisions.
He practices in Illinois and holds memberships in the local bar and civic organizations. His career blends private practice with public service. That mix is visible in the variety of posts he has accepted: municipal trustee, hospital board member, bank audit committee head, and nonprofit director.
Richmond practices at ARIANO HARDY RITT NYULI RICHMOND LYTLE & GOETTEL P.C., where his work concentrates on business and financial matters in Illinois.
