About Scott E
Scott E Edgett earned his J.D. from Shepard Broad Law Center at Nova Southeastern University in 2001. He moved into trial work almost immediately after law school and built a practice centered on courtroom advocacy.
He began his professional career as a senior trial lawyer in 2002 at The Edgett Law Office, P.C. in Florida. Seven years later he founded the Texas incarnation of the firm, taking on the title of founding trial lawyer in 2009. He is admitted to practice in both Florida and Texas and has maintained active memberships in several regional and national defense organizations.
Edgett’s practice reflects sustained involvement in criminal defense and trial training. He has been named a Top 100 Trial Lawyer by the National Trial Lawyers on multiple occasions. He is a current member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and local county defense groups including the Collin, Denton and Dallas county associations. He also participates in specialized trial training through the Trial Lawyers College and Trial Skills University, and belongs to the National College for DUI Defense.
Colleagues and clients have noted his preference for handling contested cases at trial rather than resolving matters solely through negotiation. He has built a practice that emphasizes courtroom preparation, witness development and cross-examination. Those elements appear across his matters in both Florida and Texas, where the local procedural rules and jury practices can vary.
Throughout his career he has split time between casework and continuing legal education. The repeated recognition from peer lists reflects trial results and courtroom presence rather than transactional or advisory work. His memberships suggest an ongoing engagement with professional education and the criminal defense bar in multiple jurisdictions.
Edgett operates under The Edgett Law Office, P.C., a law firm he has led in different forms since the early 2000s. He continues to accept trial assignments and to train on trial technique, focusing his current practice on criminal defense and DUI litigation.
