About Scott D.
Scott D. Huffstetler earned his undergraduate degree in political science from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in 2000 and returned to the same school to receive his law degree in 2003. He began his professional life after law school rooted in the Baton Rouge legal community, staying connected to his alma mater and to local bar organizations as his career progressed.
He built his practice in Louisiana courts and in the federal system. He is admitted to practice in Louisiana as well as in the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Those admissions have informed the matters he handles and the places he regularly appears on behalf of clients.
Huffstetler rose through firm ranks to become a partner at Kean Miller LLP. His role there has included case management, client counseling and courtroom work. Over the years he has balanced firm responsibilities with active participation in professional organizations, often taking on leadership positions.
His involvement in the Federal Bar Association, Baton Rouge Chapter, is a notable example. He chaired the chapter’s Younger Lawyers Division from 2006 to 2008, served as secretary from 2008 to 2009 and as treasurer from 2009 to 2010. He is also a current member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Baton Rouge Bar Association. Outside traditional legal groups he holds memberships in the Defense Research Institute and in both the national and Greater Baton Rouge chapters of the Society for Human Resource Management. He has maintained ties to his faith community through membership at First Baptist Church of Denham Springs.
Peers and colleagues have known him as an active participant in bar activities and local professional networks. He has taken part in educational programs and local events sponsored by the associations to which he belongs. His early post-graduate connection to the Paul M. Hebert Law Center continued through the 2003–2004 period as he engaged with the law school’s community.
Today he practices at Kean Miller LLP in Louisiana. He regularly represents clients in state and federal court proceedings, including matters brought in the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana and appeals in the Fifth Circuit.
