About Sarah

Sarah Mills built a layered academic foundation before entering practice. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara, a Juris Doctor from the University of California, Davis, School of Law, and an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law. Those degrees shape how she approaches client problems and how she reads complex statutes and regulations.

After completing her graduate work, Mills moved into private practice. She serves as an associate at Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP, where she applies the tax training from her LL.M. to matters that intersect tax and corporate law. Colleagues describe her as methodical; she prefers to break a problem into its component parts rather than rely on a single theory.

Mills holds active bar memberships in both California and New York. She is listed as a current member of The State Bar of California and The State Bar of New York. Those dual admissions allow her to advise clients on issues that cross state lines and to coordinate strategy for matters that involve multiple jurisdictions.

Her academic background in political science informs an analytical approach to legal questions. The LL.M. in Taxation provides a technical backbone. At the firm she draws on both strands. She handles tax-related research, prepares memoranda on statutory interpretation, and assists on transactional work where tax consequences are a central consideration.

In day-to-day practice Mills spends time on client counseling, document review, and drafting. She supports senior attorneys on larger matters and manages discrete projects for smaller clients. Her role is often to translate dense tax rules into clear options for clients so they can make measured decisions.

Outside client work she has maintained involvement in the professional bar communities in both states. That presence keeps her current on regulatory changes and tax developments that affect corporate and individual taxpayers. She continues to practice at Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP, concentrating on tax matters that arise in corporate and transactional contexts.
