About Sara

Sara Kucsan earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, with a minor in Legal Studies, from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2012. She went on to earn a Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 2014, then completed an LL.M. in Homeland and National Security in 2015. While in law school she also completed a 40-Hour Mediation Certificate from Cooley, adding formal training in dispute resolution to her academic background.

Her early legal training mixed courtroom exposure and hands-on public service. As a student lawyer she served as guardian ad litem for the Juvenile Abuse and Neglect Department at the Washtenaw County Office of Public Defender in 2014. That same year she gained experience at the Detroit Crime Commission as an extern, and earlier she interned in an Office of Children & Family Services for a family law judge in 2010. In 2013 she worked as a research assistant for Professor Bradley Charles, supporting legal scholarship and classroom projects.

After law school she moved into the New Jersey court system. In 2016 she clerked for the Hon. Deborah J. Venezia, P.J.F.P., at the Middlesex County Family Courthouse of the Superior Court of New Jersey. The clerkship placed her inside family court practice, observing case management, hearings and the mechanics of family law litigation. She later practiced at Lyons & Associates beginning in 2017, where she continued to develop trial and client counseling skills.

In 2021 she joined Williams Law Group. That period of private practice followed a mix of public and private roles and broadened her client-facing work. She holds memberships in the Middlesex County Bar Association, where she has been listed since 2016, and maintains professional ties across New Jersey and New York. Her dual licensure in those jurisdictions supports cross-border practice and case handling that sometimes involves multi-state issues.

Kucsan’s background blends family court experience, juvenile advocacy, and formal study of homeland and national security law. Her mediation certificate and practical courtroom work provide tools for both negotiated resolutions and contested hearings. She has handled matters that required careful attention to procedural detail and to the needs of families and young people appearing before the court.

She practices at Williams Law Group, LLC, where her work includes family law and juvenile matters.
