About Sara J.
Sara J. Doty earned her Juris Doctor from Birmingham School of Law in 2007 after completing undergraduate studies in Justice Studies at Athens State University in 2002. Her academic path combined liberal study and vocational training. She left school with clear ideas about practicing law in her home state.
Doty began working in legal roles early. In 2002 she served as a law clerk and paralegal at Knight and Griffith, LLP. That position exposed her to day-to-day case preparation and courtroom procedures. She moved into private practice several years later and opened her own firm in 2009.
She has been a member of the Alabama State Bar since 2008 and holds admission to practice in Alabama as well as before the Federal Circuit. Doty also maintains memberships in several professional associations. She joined the American Bar Association and the Alabama State Bar in 2008, the Huntsville-Madison County Bar Association in 2009, Alabama Lawyers for Unborn Children in 2010, and the Solo and Small Firm Section of the Alabama State Bar in 2016. Those affiliations have kept her engaged in local and state bar activities over the years.
At Sara Doty Lawyer at Law, LLC, which she founded in 2009, Doty has managed the full range of small-firm responsibilities. She oversees client intake, case strategy, and trial preparation. Running a solo practice has required hands-on management of both legal work and the practical tasks of operating a firm. That experience shaped how she approaches client matters and casework.
Her courtroom experience and admissions permit representation in state and certain federal matters. Doty’s background as a law clerk and paralegal gave her early experience in case management, and those skills carry through to her present caseload. She handles pleadings, discovery, motions practice, and client counseling in matters that arise in her jurisdictional scope.
Colleagues and clients have noted her steady presence in the Huntsville legal community through bar activities and local association participation. She has maintained an ongoing role in regional bar events and committee work since joining local bar groups.
In practice today Doty continues to operate Sara Doty Lawyer at Law, LLC, serving clients in Alabama and in matters that extend to the Federal Circuit. Her current practice focuses on providing representation in state and federal filings, trial preparation, and client counseling related to the matters she handles.
