About Samuel
Samuel Bass studied history and earned his bachelor’s degree at Washington & Lee University in 2003. He returned to South Carolina to attend law school and received his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2008. Those years shaped an early interest in courtroom work and local civic involvement.
He began his legal career as an associate at Harrison, White, Smith & Coggins, P.C. in 2009. That position was his first steady work in private practice and provided a foundation in litigation and client representation. In 2013 he moved into public service as an assistant solicitor in the Seventh Circuit Solicitor’s Office. As a prosecutor he gained trial experience and learned to manage cases from intake through verdict.
In 2015 Bass joined Stewart Law Offices LLC as a lawyer. That same year he completed the South Carolina Bar Leadership Academy, a program aimed at preparing lawyers for roles in bar governance and community leadership. Over the past decade his path has alternated between public sector work and private practice, giving him perspective on how different parts of the legal system interact.
Bass maintains an active presence in legal and civic organizations. He is a member of the American Association for Justice, the American Bar Association, the South Carolina Association for Justice, and the Spartanburg County Bar Association. He also belongs to groups oriented to workplace injury issues, including Injured Workers Advocates and the South Carolina Workers Compensation Educational Association. Outside the courthouse he has participated in the Rotary Club of Spartanburg and has remained involved with his alma mater as a past president of the Washington & Lee Alumni Association’s Spartanburg Chapter.
Colleagues and clients see Bass as a lawyer who knows both sides of the courtroom aisle. His prosecutorial background informs how he prepares cases. His association work keeps him plugged into developments in workers’ compensation and injury law. He tends to take on matters that require courtroom readiness and steady case management.
He continues to practice with Stewart Law Offices. His current practice addresses workers’ compensation and injury matters at the firm.
