About Matthew William

Matthew William Shealy built the foundation for his legal career at Hampden-Sydney College, where he earned a B.A. in Classical Studies and Political Science in 2005. He went on to the University of South Carolina School of Law and received his J.D. in 2008. The combination of liberal arts study and formal legal training informs how he approaches legal questions and casework.

After law school he became a member of the South Carolina Bar in 2008 and joined the Spartanburg County Bar the following year. His bar memberships have remained active since those admissions. Shealy practices as a lawyer at Knie & Shealy Law Offices. He has built his practice around handling matters in South Carolina courts and the federal courts that serve the state.

Shealy is admitted to the South Carolina bar and to the Federal District of South Carolina. That dual admission allows him to represent clients in state and federal proceedings. He is comfortable in courtroom settings and in advising clients on procedural and substantive issues that arise in litigation. His academic background in political science and classical studies often surfaces in written work and oral argument through attention to structure and precedent.

Colleagues describe Shealy as steady and pragmatic in his approach to cases. He maintains an active role in the local legal community through ongoing membership in the Spartanburg County Bar and the South Carolina Bar. Those associations provide routine opportunities for continuing education and contact with other practitioners. He has continued to practice in the same regional market since his admission to the bar and is known for taking a straightforward approach to client communication.

Today Shealy practices at Knie & Shealy Law Offices, representing clients in matters that require appearances in both state courts and the Federal District of South Carolina. He remains an active member of the South Carolina Bar and the Spartanburg County Bar. He currently practices at Knie & Shealy Law Offices, handling litigation and court-related matters in South Carolina and the Federal District of South Carolina.
