About Sammy Ford

Sammy Ford IV studied history and the liberal arts at Harvard University, receiving his B.A. in 2000. He went on to law school at the University of Texas at Austin and earned his J.D. in 2007. Those formative academic years established the legal grounding he would later apply in courtrooms across the region.

After law school, Ford built a practice centered on trial work. He is admitted to practice in Texas and before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Tenth Circuits. That multi-jurisdictional standing has allowed him to handle appeals and complex civil matters that cross state lines. In 2013 he served as an Ambassador for the Houston Bar Association, a role that connected him more closely to the local legal community and to other practitioners.

Ford is board certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. That certification reflects an emphasis on jury trials and the procedural demands of personal injury litigation. His work in the courtroom has included contested trials and pretrial advocacy. He has handled cases involving serious bodily injury and the kinds of discovery and expert testimony that come with those matters.

Colleagues describe his courtroom approach as straightforward and methodical. He prepares testimony, examines experts and structures openings and closings in ways that aim to communicate clearly to jurors. He expects evidence to meet rigorous standards, and he designs strategy around the record rather than headlines. He has represented plaintiffs and defendants in different settings, always focused on the immediate legal questions at hand.

Outside of trial days, Ford has been active in bar activities and professional development. His 2013 ambassador role at the Houston Bar Association placed him in contact with newer attorneys and established lawyers alike. He participates in continuing education offered by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and other professional groups to keep current on evidentiary and procedural changes.

He maintains an active practice in Texas and appears before federal appellate panels when matters escalate beyond trial courts. His current work centers on personal injury trial work and related civil litigation matters.
