About Samantha
Samantha Rauba earned her J.D. from Florida Coastal School of Law in 2008. She entered the legal profession at a time of heavy caseloads and tight public resources. The classroom had prepared her for doctrine; the courthouse taught her urgency.
Her first post was as an Assistant Public Defender in the 5th Judicial Circuit Office of the Public Defender in 2008. There she worked on criminal matters for clients who could not afford private counsel. The role required courtroom appearances, client interviews and quick legal research. It also gave her early trial experience and a practical sense of case preparation under pressure.
In 2010 Rauba moved into private practice as an associate at Colleen M. Duris, P.A. The change expanded her exposure to civil matters and transactional work. She took on probate-related files and handled real property matters as part of a broader practice. The move reflected a shift from state-funded defense to the varied demands of private clients.
By 2013 she was working at Schatt & Hesser, P.A. as a lawyer. Her time there continued the trajectory toward estate planning, probate administration and real estate-related issues. She balanced client counseling and document drafting with appearances in probate courts and other local tribunals.
Outside the office Rauba has been active in bar and civic organizations. She has served as Law Day Chair for the Marion County Bar Association since 2015 and has been on the Marion County Public Education Foundation’s Board of Directors since 2014. She has held the secretary post for the Florida Association for Women Lawyers since 2012. Locally, she has been involved with Altrusa International of Ocala since 2010, serving as vice president in 2013–2014 and president in 2014–2015. Her volunteer work also includes the Junior League of Ocala and the DR Smith American Inns of Court, where she held an officer role focused on professional excellence.
Her bar-related memberships reflect the subjects she handles: the Florida Bar’s Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section and the Marion County Bar Association’s Real Property, Probate and Elder Law Section, both since 2010, and the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division since 2008. Those affiliations inform the practical side of her practice and offer a steady connection to continuing legal education and local colleagues.
She practices law in Florida, concentrating on real property, probate and elder law matters.
