About Samantha D

Samantha D Pennington combines formal legal training with regional practice across Illinois and Missouri. She is known among colleagues for a careful, methodical approach to client matters and for navigating the practical questions that arise when state laws intersect.

She earned her J.D. from The John Marshall Law School in 2006 and later completed an LL.M. at the same institution in 2009. Those years of study underpinned a move into practice that required familiarity with two neighboring legal systems and an ability to translate academic training into everyday counsel.

Pennington built her practice at Maness, Maness & Pennington Evans. Over time she developed an understanding of the procedural and substantive differences between Illinois and Missouri courts. That experience has informed how she prepares cases and advises clients on transactional steps and regulatory matters that cross state lines.

Her work involves advising individuals and business clients on matters governed by state law. She handles pre-litigation planning, case assessment, and procedural filings when disputes arise. Clients see her for straight answers about statutory deadlines, jurisdictional questions, and the practical consequences of filing choices. She also spends time on document review and drafting that must meet requirements in more than one jurisdiction.

Pennington divides her time between the firm’s Doniphan office and a Poplar Buff location that operates by appointment only. The two offices serve different client communities, and she adapts her schedule to meet in whatever setting best fits a client’s needs. She regularly coordinates with local counsel and court clerks in both states to ensure filings and appearances conform to local practice.

Colleagues describe her courtroom manner as focused and procedural. She tends to emphasize preparation. That approach shows up in how she prepares evidence and frames legal arguments. Outside of court, she spends time counseling clients on risk management and on the next practical steps after a dispute emerges.

In addition to client work, Pennington keeps up with changes in Illinois and Missouri law that affect the firm’s practice. She also mentors newer attorneys at the firm, helping them understand regional practice differences and courtroom expectations. She currently practices law from Maness, Maness & Pennington Evans’ Poplar Buff (by appointment only) and Doniphan offices, representing clients in matters under Illinois and Missouri law.
