About Salvatore
Salvatore Bonanno began his path toward law after completing an undergraduate degree in English language and literature at Fairfield University in 1979. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 1987. Those academic years set the stage for a long career centered on courtroom work and local bar involvement.
His first post-law school role was as an associate at Alfano, Halloran & Flynn in 1987. He moved into private practice two years later, establishing the Law Offices of Salvatore Bonanno in 1989. In 1990 he joined DiPentima & Bonanno, PC as a partner. That sequence of roles reflects early experience both in a firm setting and running an independent practice.
Bonanno is admitted to practice before the Connecticut courts and has credentials to appear in federal venues, including the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. His work has involved courtroom advocacy and representation in criminal justice matters at multiple levels of the judiciary.
He has been an active participant in legal associations in the Hartford area for decades. He has been a member of the Hartford County Bar Association since 1988 and served as co-chair of its Criminal Justice Committee from 2014 to 2018. He also joined the Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association in 2015 and remains a member. Those roles have kept him engaged in local practice issues and the professional community.
Colleagues and peers have known him for steady court-side presence and an approach that emphasizes procedure and advocacy. He developed trial experience early in his career and continued that emphasis while maintaining a private practice. Time in both small-firm partnership and solo practice gave him repeated exposure to case preparation, client counseling and litigation strategy.
The Law Offices of Salvatore Bonanno remains his principal office. He continues to accept matters in Connecticut and practices in federal courts where he is admitted, including appellate work in the Second Circuit and case filings that have reached the Supreme Court of the United States. He keeps an active role in the Hartford legal community and in organizations that address criminal justice practice.
He currently practices from his own office, handling matters in state and federal courts and remaining active in local bar work.
