About Jonathan
Jonathan Sills earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Connecticut in 2003, majoring in political science with minors in criminal justice and sociology. He stayed in Storrs for law school and received his J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 2006. Those years shaped his understanding of state institutions and the practical rules that govern courtroom procedure.
He began his post-law school career in private practice and joined Tomeo Sills, LLC as a partner in 2007. During his time there he handled a steady docket of litigation and courtroom matters, building experience in both contested hearings and written advocacy. The early years in the partnership established the operational and case-management skills that would mark his later work.
In 2020 he became managing partner of The Sills Law Office, LLC. As managing partner he oversees day-to-day firm operations and client work. He divides his time between supervising other attorneys and litigating matters himself. The role requires administrative judgment as well as familiarity with trial practice and appellate procedure.
Sills is admitted to practice in Connecticut and also appears before the Federal Circuit. He holds memberships in the Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the Hartford County Bar Association. Those affiliations connect him to colleagues across the state and offer forums for continuing legal education and professional exchange.
Throughout his career he has worked in both trial and appellate settings. He appears in Connecticut state courts and in matters that reach the federal appellate level. Colleagues describe him as methodical in courtroom preparation and direct when presenting arguments. He places emphasis on clear briefing and on steady pacing at hearings.
Outside the office he has contributed time to bar activities and local legal programs. His education at UConn, followed immediately by private practice, set a path that moved from partner at a small firm to a leadership role at his own office.
Sills currently focuses his practice on matters in Connecticut state and federal courts.
